Both we and our dogs seek rewards. These rewards are necessary for the survival and continuation of the species. We spend our lives looking for rewards and constantly want to get better at choosing rewards for those who are special to us.
Learning rewarded by excellent reinforcers happens more quickly and efficiently.
Reinforcement is both a tool and a process. We must learn to use the tools to model behavior and the process to learn what an individual considers a reward at that specific time.
During this course we will discuss:
Reinforcement as a tool and process
The consequences of behavior
Learning and learning processes
Bridges, secondary reinforcement and markers
Placement of reinforcement
Not just food: using other types of reinforcement
